Chyulu Sunrise - Rise before dawn for one of Finch Hattons’ most memorable adventures. Watch the sun appear above the Chyulu cloud forests before setting out on a gentle morning walk through the hills, with light breakfast refreshments served amid the landscape.

Shetani Lava Flow - Explore a vast expanse of folded black lava created by an eruption around 200 years ago. Named Shetani (meaning “devil” in Swahili) the landscape inspired local stories of fire emerging from beneath the earth.

Poachers Lookout - Climb to this historic hilltop shelter for far-reaching views across the plains towards Mount Kilimanjaro. Once used by Kenya Wildlife Service rangers protecting thearea, it is a powerful place from which to appreciate both Tsavo’s beauty and its conservation story.

Mzima Springs - Fed by underground streams flowing from the Chyulu Hills and MountKilimanjaro,Mzima Springs brings life to the surrounding wilderness. Walk beside clear pools, watch for resident hippos and explore the underwater viewing chamber, where fish move beneath the surface.

Roaring Rocks - Take in magnificent views across Rhino Valley from this dramatic rocky outcrop. The landmark takes its name from the roar-like sound created by wind sweeping across the bare rock and cicadas calling through the landscape.

Lake Jipe - Travel to the remote southern reaches of Tsavo West to discover this peaceful lake surrounded by wilderness. A haven for birdlife, Lake Jipe is home to species including pygmy geese, black egrets and black coucals.

Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary - Visit one of East Africa’s important black-rhino conservation areas. Late afternoon offers the best chance to encounter these endangered animals within their highly protected habitat while learning about the efforts supporting their survival.

'Night Out' Rhino Sanctuary Visit - Experience the sanctuary after dark, when black rhinos are often attheir most active. Using night-vision goggles, observe the landscape from an elevated platform before spending the night beneath the stars and returning to camp the following morning.

Visit a Maasai Community of Iltilal - Spend time with members of the Maasai community of Iltilal and discover traditions passed between generations. Visit the local school, market and medical centre before ending at the village boma. Through conversation and shared experiences, gain a more personal understanding of Maasai life, culture and connection to the landscape.

Guests are encouraged to bring useful supplies, such as pens and books,or alternatively contribute $30 to Finch Hattons’ community fund, supporting food,  essential supplies, water access and drought relief.

Survival Training - Explore traditional techniques used to understand and navigate the wilderness. Interactive and hands-on, this experience reveals how generations of knowledge have helped the Maasai live closely with the natural world.

Yoga - Practise yoga on the expansive open-air deck or outdoors, surrounded by the Chyulu Hills and sounds of the bush. Led by an expert instructor, each session offers space to move, breathe and find stillness. Our yoga instructors are graduates of the renowned Africa Yoga Project (AYP). Since 2009, AYP has empowered marginalised youths, spreading wellbeing across Africa.

Hammam - Slow down with a traditional hammam ritual designed to cleanse, soothe and restore. The warmth and stillness offer a deeply calming contrast to a day spent exploring the wilderness.

Gym - Stay active in a peaceful gym surrounded by greenery, with space for strength training, cardio and stretching.

Chyulu Spa - Retreat to the Chyulu Spa for restorative treatments inspired by the land and its indigenous ingredients. With two treatment rooms, a hammam and a peaceful spa pool, it is a sanctuary designed to restore balance and encourage deep relaxation.

Swimming Pools - Cool off in Finch Hattons’ main infinity pool or retreat to the adults-only pool at the Chyulu Spa. Both offer quiet places to pause, unwind and take in the surrounding wilderness.

Day 1:  Arrival at Finch Hattons
Morning: Arrive at Finch Hattons and settle into camp life. Check in to your tented suite, soak up the views, meet the team and get a feel for the rhythm of the camp.
Midday: Enjoy a relaxed lunch overlooking the natural springs, unwind by the pool or simply sit back and let the sounds of the bush do their thing.
Afternoon: Head out on your first game drive through Tsavo West, keeping watch for elephants, giraffes, zebra, lions, and the birdlife that brings so much colour to the landscape.
Evening: Pause for sundowners in the bush with views towards Mount Kilimanjaro, followed by a playful Maasai warrior Olympics experience. Return to camp for dinner under the stars and an early night.

Day 2: Wildlife, walking & wellness
Morning: Wake for a sunrise game drive, when the light is soft, the bush is stirring and the wildlife has a habit of being delightfully dramatic.
Midday: Return to camp for a leisurely breakfast, then take things down a notch with time at the Chyulu Spa, a swim, yoga on the open deck, or a gentle walk through camp exploring the flora & fauna that also call the place home.
Afternoon: Step deeper into the wild on an expertly guided bush walk, accompanied by a KWS ranger. Learn about tracking, local ecology and the smaller details that are often missed from a vehicle.
Evening:Enjoy a relaxed evening in camp, or head out on a night game drive for a different side of the wilderness - nocturnal sounds, glowing eyes and the rather thrilling feeling that the bush has changed personality.

Day 3: Chyulu and cultural connection
Morning: Set out early for the unforgettable Chyulu Hills sunrise experience. Let the clouds unfold around you, soak up the panoramic views and then amble through the ancient cloud forest before a well deserved bush breakfast.
Midday:Enjoy some well-earned stillness back at camp: a spa treatment, a dip in the infinity pool, or a peaceful afternoon with binoculars and a book on your deck.
Afternoon: Hop in your vehicle to explore more of Tsavo’s extraordinary landscape with a visit to the Shetani lava flow, where folded black lava tells the story of the region’s volcanic past. Then visit Mzima Springs for its clear waters, fish, birdlife and resident hippos, or spend time with the local Maasai community at a homestead.
Evening: Toast your final full evening with sundowners in the bush, followed by dinner back at camp.

Day 4: One last wild start
Morning: Head out early for a final game drive, making the most of Tsavo’s golden morning light and the last chance to spot wildlife before departure. Return to camp for breakfast, before saying farewell to the Finch Hattons with dusty boots, a full heart and a very firm understanding that safari here is just the beginning.
