The Young Explorers Club
Finch Hattons is the perfect spot for families, providing exciting activities and facilities to suit every generation!
Young Explorers (that’s the kids!) aged six years or older are welcome at Finch Hattons and can join in the fun on game drives with their parents. When not on game drives, we ask parents to keep an eye on their young explorers at all times. We’re also happy to arrange special menus for the younger ones on request.

Sweet Dreams
Finch Hattons is one of the rare Kenya safari camps to offer spacious two-bedroom tents connected by a cozy lounge - ideal for families seeking luxury and togetherness on their adventure. Our expansive Family Suites, spanning over 200 sqm, provide unparalleled comfort and are perfectly located near the pool and public areas for easy access and convenience.
To ensure safety and comfort, kids under 12 share a tent with their parents, while 12 to 15-year-olds can have their own tent but are encouraged to bunk with family. Experience the ultimate family safari in Tsavo West with stylish accommodations designed for memorable moments and seamless relaxation.

Young Explorer's Club
Because we know each ‘Young Explorer’ (as we call them) is different, we do not operate a set kids programme. Instead, we offer a range of activities that we tailor to each child or group depending on their ages and interests. Parents may choose to join their kids in these activities or take time for themselves.
All explorers over size are very welcome. Our club is specially designed to educate kids about the ways of the African bush and to instil a love of the wilderness in them that will last a lifetime. They will head off on guided walks as well as complete treasure hunts on Bush Survival Classes. It’s an unforgettable, skill-packed adventure in the wild!

Out in The Wild
Kids are welcome to join their parents on thrilling game drives, making every safari a memorable family adventure! To keep the experience safe and exciting for everyone, little explorers are encouraged to stay quiet so as not to startle the wildlife.
While one parent stays back at camp with the youngest children, the rest of the family can enjoy the excitement of the bush together. Since the roads can be dusty, we recommend bringing sunglasses to keep their eyes comfortable and protected.

Little Bites
We know feeding kids can be tricky, so we’ve whipped up special food and drinks just for them! From tasty snacks to light meals, everything is prepared to match your child’s tastes and dietary needs.

Safety First
For your little ones’ safety, we kindly ask that children stay close to an adult at all times around our unfenced camp. Even the smallest critters can be lively, so keeping kids within arm’s reach helps ensure they stay safe and happy. Children under 12 will also need adult supervision at the pool, as there is no lifeguard on duty. While we don’t offer babysitting, our friendly camp guides are always happy to keep a gentle watch over tents with kids at night.
During the warmer daytime hours, please take advantage of our complimentary sunscreen to keep your children protected. To help prevent mosquito bites, simply close the tent doors in the evening and use the mosquito spray provided in each tent, ensuring a comfortable and restful night for everyone.

Keeping Busy
There’s so much for kids to explore at Finch Hattons, they might never want to leave! Young adventurers can join our resident Conservation Manager and special guest experts for captivating talks about Tsavo’s rich history. They’ll dive into stories of local communities: their origins, vibrant culture, and how they live in harmony with the wild.
During the day, little explorers can embark on mini safaris around the camp to spot colorful lizards, fascinating insects, and beautiful birds. As the sun sets, kids can cosy up for movie nights featuring favourites like The Lion King and Madagascar and then see if they can spot the real-life animal friends from the films out on their game drives. It’s a magical safari experience designed just for them.
