Grab a picnic basket from Mont Rochelle’s Country Kitchen and stroll through the vineyards to the dam or find a lovely spot under one of the estate’s many beautiful oaks or weeping willows. A basket packed full of delights awaits. Simply sit back, open a bottle of Mont Rochelle wine and tuck into tasty treats such as spiced lemongrass and tuna fish cakes with tomato relish; a selection of South African cheeses with homemade preserves and malva truffles with salted caramel sauce, while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Dassenberg Mountains in Franschhoek.

A private dinner on one of Ulusaba’s secluded decks makes for an intimate and magical experience together. After an evening game drive followed by sundowners, take in the sunset, and sit down under the African sky to feast on flavoursome, seasonal dishes accompanied by the soundtrack of nocturnal life in the bush.

Join Mont Rochelle’s very own Wine Maker for a tour around the estate’s winery before heading to the cellar for a wine tasting. Take in the surroundings of the 150-year-old wine cellar – previously used as a fruit packing shed for the early settlers – and learn about how the winery processes close to 150 tons of grapes in a season; about the varieties cultivated in the vineyard and about how the Franschhoek climate allows for a longer ripening period, all while sampling Mont Rochelle’s award-winning wines.
Join the chefs in the kitchen and get stuck in discovering the art of Moroccan cuisine and learning how to prepare a three-course meal, recreating some of Kasbah Tamadot’s most popular dishes: from the iconic tagine to a delicious local dessert. Once the hard work is out of the way, simply relax and enjoy the tasty dishes for dinner.

Dig deeper into Maasai culture by joining one of Mahali Mzuri’s local guides on a tour of the local of Maasai manyatta (village), finding out about how the Maasai women built the houses; how responsibilities are divided up; learning basic Maa (the traditional language) and gain an insight into their deep understanding of the landscape that surrounds them.

Take in the spectacular landscape of the Swiss Alps from the air with an unforgettable tandem paragliding flight. Available both in the winter and the summer, enjoy a feeling of pure freedom while spotting the majestic Matterhorn in one direction and the peaks of Mont Blanc in the other.

Discover some of the Atlas Mountains’ most stunning scenery on one of Kasbah Tamadot’s treks. Choose from different difficulty levels and uncover Berber villages scattered throughout the Imlil valley while stopping off for a cup of Moroccan mint tea or for a traditional lunch, pass rivers, eucalyptus and olive groves and climb through juniper and oak forests taking in striking views of the snow-capped Mount Toubkal.

Visit the Eve Branson Foundation workshops in the local villages surrounding Kasbah Tamadot and meet the artisans over a glass of Berber mint tea at one of the foundation’s craft centres and find out about how beautiful Moroccan gifts are created, ensuring the traditional techniques used for centuries by the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains are preserved. Afterwards, book a traditional lunch, cooked by local women, and tuck into delicious treats such as woodfired bread, known as ‘Tanourt’.

A not-for-profit, Pride ‘n Purpose works in partnership with Ulusaba, to support the local communities in the Sabi Sand private game reserve in with healthcare, education, childcare, access to clean drinking water and job opportunities. Among its many projects, to date, Pride ‘n Purpose has provided education for more than 3,000 people through eight new creches; five new classrooms; three new literacy centres and by providing training courses, while also ensuring 5,000 people have clean, safe water via three water boreholes; two fun pumps in playgrounds; 25 water storage tanks and two solar water pumps.
