Nurturing the finest grapes
At Mont Rochelle, we carefully tend to diverse grape varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our vineyards benefit from varied microclimates due to the region's Mediterranean-like conditions—dry summers and 1000mm of winter rainfall. The south-easterly winds in the Franschhoek Valley usher in cooler air, extending the ripening period.
A wine tasting at Mont Rochelle isn't just a special event, it’s an everyday occurrence!
We can organise tastings in a variety of locations, including at The Country Kitchen and at our bar.
For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, join us for a Winemaker’s Dinner with our talented winemaker, Michael Langenhoven, who gives you a tour of our cellar followed by a delicious five-course pairing dinner at The Country Kitchen.
Michael Langenhoven developed his craft at Boschendal, La Motte, in France's Rhône Valley, Sancerre, and California's Dry Creek Vineyards. His passion for winemaking is deeply rooted in his family heritage.
Michael's proudest moment was winning double gold at the VERITAS Wine Awards, and he aspires to further elevate Mont Rochelle's legacy of exceptional wines.
Our 1850s winery, once a fruit packing shed, now functions as a traditional wine cellar, processing nearly 150 tons of grapes each season.
Due to the winery’s National Heritage status, all of Mont Rochelle’s white wine tanks are horizontal, as the roof couldn’t be heightened to fit them all in! Our wines are available to buy and enjoy at home, or you can have them delivered straight to your doorstep.
