Safari Lodge fits snugly into the bush located beneath a canopy of ancient trees on the edge of a dry riverbed. You’ll love the sense of adventure as you access some of the rooms by swing bridges. Your room will provide fascinating views of the animals as they stroll past on their way to the nearby watering hole. Safari Lodge also includes a Treehouse Suite (10 minute walk away) overlooking the nearby Xikwenga Dam.
Kids aged 12 and over are welcome to stay at Safari Lodge.
In Safari Lodge, there is one Safari Room close to the Main Lodge, which can be interconnected with the Safari Suite to create a two bedroom suite. This room offers a viewing deck and en-suite bathroom with great views.
There are three spacious Elephant Rooms with en-suite bathrooms and large viewing decks offering stunning views over the bush. Elephants regularly use a migratory route that passes by these rooms allowing for excellent up-close-and personal game viewing. The location of these 3 Elephant Rooms are ideal for friends travelling together or families with teens wishing to be close to their parents.
Built in tree house style, there are four River Rooms, with two of these rooms offering private plunge pools. All are very spacious and private with cosy seating areas and striking views of the river bed or bush. Ideal for those celebrating or enjoying a romantic escape as these rooms are secluded and tucked between jackalberry trees. Three of the River Rooms are accessible by swing bridge and are a short walk from the main Lodge.
This private suite is next to the Main Lodge and is accessed through its own entrance into a walled garden with boma fire pit. There is a separate spacious lounge that opens onto a large viewing deck with plunge pool, outdoor shower and private dining table for up to 8 guests. The suite boasts an en-suite bathroom with a separate WC and an additional guest bathroom next to the lounge. The Safari Suite can be interconnected with the Safari Room to sleep up to 4 guests.
A spacious and very unique suite featuring a private deck with views over Xikwenga Dam where hippos and elephants come to bathe. There is also a large viewing deck adjacent to the room perfect for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The Treehouse Suite offers ultimate seclusion and is perfect for honeymooners. The location of the suite also makes it the ideal choice for avid photographers and birders.
The Treehouse Suite is an approximate 10 minute walk from the main lodge and is accessible by swing bridges and raised walkways.
Relax or cool down in the Safari Lodge pool. If relaxing poolside and soaking up the sun, is more your thing, we'll make sure to provide refreshments.
The treehouse viewing deck overlooking the Xikwenga Dam is a great place to spot the hippos and elephants bathing.
Far away from all of the light pollution you get in most cities and towns, a visit to Ulusaba is a great chance to gaze at the night sky. Our Bush Observatory may be temporarily out of action at the moment, but we still encourage you to look up at night - you won't be disappointed!
If you fancy a hit of tennis, there are two tennis courts. We will provide all the equipment. The courts are floodlit for evening games, but we will organise a security escort just to make sure the animals don’t gate crash your match.
Our gym is equipped with a running machine, bike, multifunctional weight station and free weights.
The Aroma Boma spa treatment room is built on the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed amongst the trees and away from the main lodge area, so the only likely disturbance is perhaps the odd elephant wandering past. Ulusaba uses a range of products from ‘Africology’. ‘Africology’ prides itself on its African roots, taking inspiration from home and using local active ingredients including Rooibos, Aloe, Marula and African Potato.
Whether you’re staying at Rock Lodge or Safari Lodge, you should definitely make some time to taste a few reds and whites in the Safari Lodge wine room. We can also organise private dinners for up to six on the deck just outside the cellar which overlooks the nearby watering hole.
Our Gift Shop is located at Safari Lodge, and is filled with a selection of arts, crafts, small gifts, books, and clothing ranging from caps, shirts and beanies to gloves.
