Enjoy an ultimate safari adventure with weekend stays at Ulusaba

3rd September 2020

Ulusaba Private Game Reserve, part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection, is thrilled to announce its re-opening of Safari Lodge on 18th September for weekend getaways, welcoming South African guests to experience the magic of the bush with a very special re-opening offer.

South African residents looking to escape lockdown can once again enjoy getting up close and personal with Africa’s big five at the luxury safari lodge in the Sabi Sand, where it brings the thrill of adventure and safari traditions of South Africa to life in an exclusive and luxurious setting.

With over 13,500 hectares of unspoilt, game-rich bush, Ulusaba’s re-opening will initially see it offer guests luxurious weekend stays (arrivals on a Friday or Saturday for a minimum two-night stay and a Thursday for a three-night stay over long weekends and key holiday periods)* where they will be able to enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the open spaces, twice-daily game drives, safari walks and much more.

Jon Brown, Managing Director of Virgin Limited Edition, commented: “We have always remained optimistic that we may be able to open Ulusaba in time for spring and with Ulusaba’s sister property, Mont Rochelle in Franschhoek in the Western Cape, having just re-opened, we’re thrilled that we’re now able to re-open Ulusaba’s doors to South African residents for a special safari weekend getaway.

“Behind the scenes the Ulusaba team have been incredibly busy, not least with ensuring that we are welcoming back our guests with meticulous new safety and hygiene measures, ensuring complete peace of mind and trust in everything we do, but they have also been fulfilling the much loved weekly live ‘sofa safari’s’ on Instagram every Monday since lockdown began in March. The Ulusaba team wanted to continue to bring the incredible safari experience it is renowned for to guests at home during a time when they have been unable to travel to them, and we’re so pleased that our virtual safaris have proven so popular. Whilst the Ulusaba team have every intention of continuing with the weekly live sofa safaris, they are now very excited to also welcome local guests back, to enjoy the Ulusaba experience in person, from the 18th September.

“Guests can expect to see some slight changes around Safari Lodge, as we ask our staff to wear masks, take their daily temperature checks and carry out rigorous cleaning measures across all guest areas, whilst ensuring that both our staff and guests are adhering to social distancing guidelines. We have always been extremely proud of the incredible experiences we offer across all of our properties and what is more important than ever is that we continue to share the Ulusaba magic, but just in a slightly different way - with our guests’ safety and wellbeing always remaining our number one priority.”

Ulusaba will be welcoming guests back with a special resident offering which starts from ZAR 7,200 per person, per night in either an Elephant or River room, based on two people sharing and includes accommodation, all meals and drinks including South African branded beverages, twice daily game drives and plenty more.

Safari Suite exclusive use which encompasses the beautiful Safari Suite and Safari Room is perfect for families accommodating four adults and up to three children under 12 years of age, which for only ZAR 40,000 per night, offers access through a private entrance with its own private walled garden complete with boma fire pit, a large living space and an outdoor plunge pool, as well as a private vehicle for the twice daily game drives. For smaller family groups, the Safari Suite can be booked on its own for ZAR 30,000 per night, accommodating two adults and two children.

The Ulusaba team also love nothing more than helping guests to celebrate special birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, weddings and other key moments and with many milestone occasions having been missed over the last five months, now is the perfect time to escape and celebrate or simply to spend time with loved ones for a well-deserved getaway.

With this in mind, South African residents can also enjoy Ulusaba’s new exclusive use residents offer, whereby guests can book all ten rooms and suites at Safari Lodge for ZAR 180,000 per night. Smaller groups still wanting exclusivity can book up to seven rooms at ZAR 140,000 per night.
