Necker Island appoints Riza Zalameda as Tennis Coach

Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands, is delighted to announce the appointment of Riza Zalameda as the island’s Tennis Coach.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Riza most recently served the role of Head Tennis Coach at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. Prior to this she was the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Columbia University where she helped lead the Lions to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

As a former top 70 world ranked tennis professional on the WTA Tour, she won numerous ITF titles and competed at events around the world including Wimbledon, the US Open and the French Open. Before her professional career she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles as a national champion and eight-time All-American. Equipped with a degree in Anthropology and Ethics, she enjoys engaging her students in thoughtful conversations whilst sharing her love of the sport.

Necker Island guests can work up a sweat on one of the two floodlit tennis courts, where Riza is on-hand to organise lessons, tournaments, or someone to hit with for those who like a challenge! The island can be booked exclusively throughout the year for up to 30 guests or individual rooms can be booked during a select number of Celebration Weeks.
