COVID-19 Update

A message from Jon Brown, CEO, Virgin Limited Edition

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to affect the world as we know it, there is no denying the huge challenges all of the travel industry are facing together.

In my 40 years of hospitality, I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like this and I appreciate there are uncertain times ahead for many. However, what I do know is that the travel industry is resilient and we will all emerge from this situation together, and stronger than ever before.

At this moment in time though, it is with a heavy heart that we have had to make the decision to temporarily close all of our properties across the collection until 31st May 2020. As well as flight cancellations, border controls and government advisories, our priority right now has to be that of our people – our staff, their families, guests, as well as the communities in which we work. Some in the most vulnerable of locations.

We stay optimistic that we will be able to re-open our doors on 1st June 2020, but we will only do this when it is safe to do so, and government advice allows. During this time, we will continue to monitor this ever-evolving situation across the world on a daily basis and keep you updated on any further developments.

We all play a huge part in beating this dreaded virus and supporting each other during this time of crisis; but we are more than aware of also supporting some of the very vulnerable communities in which our properties operate. We are committed to retaining all of our local on-site nurses and medical centres to support our staff and the local communities. In South Africa, our Pride 'n Purpose charity have already formed a Covid Support Volunteer Group that have set about educating some of the poorest and at risk communities, as well as providing essential medical and food supplies. We will not stop here and together with Virgin Unite, we are already developing further plans of support during this crisis.

For our guests who are due to travel with us over the coming weeks and months, we ask you to kindly bear with us as we work through our booking list. Our reservations teams, or your travel company will be in contact with you directly to assist in rescheduling your stay.

We understand that during these uncertain times it is difficult to plan ahead and that’s why we have amended our terms and conditions to be as flexible as possible. Our reservations teams remain on hand to discuss this and support you with re-booking when you are able to do so.

All of us at Virgin Limited Edition, myself included, stand ready to do all we can, and you can be assured of our upmost support as we continue to navigate our way through this difficult situation. Whilst we can’t travel right now, we can still dream, and we will do our very best to keep you inspired with some of the incredible stories from across our properties.

In the meantime, our very best wishes to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time and we very much look forward to welcoming you and bringing back the Virgin Limited Edition magic.
