Sofa Safari live from Ulusaba

Tune in to our Instagram page every Monday and join Ulusaba’s rangers and trackers on their daily observation of the bush, live from the Sabi Sand. Whether it’s the reserve’s resident lion pride, an elephant calf and its family or the very first views of two new leopard cubs hidden in their den, our team will be bringing the very best of a South African safari experience to your sofa.

Sofa Safari live from Mahali Mzuri

Let us (virtually) transport you to the heart of the Mara with our Sofa Safari, live from the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Kenya every Wednesday. Secure a front seat and join Mahali Mzuri's guides and trackers on an exciting game drive, spotting African elephants, rhino, Cape buffalo, lions and many other roaming the savannah plains.

Wander the World

Our Virtual Series for Kids

With many parts of the world still in lockdown and schools still closed, we know parents face the daily juggling act of working from home alongside home schooling, all whilst providing fun and engaging activities for kids too. Aimed to at relieving some of the pressure of formal academic work, Wander the World, our new virtual series for kids is an exciting window to the world and its cultural diversity while offering brief respite for parents with educational and fun activities to break up the day.

Learn how to jump like a Maasai Warrior at Mahali Mzuri in Kenya; find out the secrets of making Berber bread at Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco; move like a Lemur with Yoga on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands; join us on a special Sofa Safari at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa and finally take part in a sensory drinks tasting at Mont Rochelle, we will take you on a journey around the world, learning about different cultures and traditions in an engaging and interactive way.

An exciting game journey with the rangers and trackers at Ulusaba

Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is set in the heart of the South African Bush and will take kids on an exciting game journey, teaching them all about the incredible African wildlife that can be spotted as well as all the ways that we work to protect the environment through conservation, preserving it for future generations. Kids will also have the chance to learn vital tracking skills and have a guess at real life animal footprints.

Learn how to make traditional Berber bread with Kasbah Tamadot

Kasbah Tamadot is nestled in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and is steeped in traditions from the local Berber community. Led by Kasbah Tamadot’s Head Chef, kids will be able to get their hands messy as they are taught how to make and cook traditional Berber Bread.

What you will need:
Ingredients (for 8 people):

  • 200g of white flour
  • 200g of durum wheat flour
  • 12g of baker's yeast
  • 200cl of water
  • 16g of salt
  • Semolina for baking and dusting

Utensils:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Gas or electric hob (adult supervision required)
  • Heavy-bottomed pan or a non-stick pan
  • Baking sheet and baking paper to cover
  • Stainless steel pan
  • Small cloth/tea towel or paper towels for covering the bread
  • Hand mixer
  • Spatula

Move like a lemur with Lemur Yoga from Necker Island

Necker Island is home to exotic and endangered wildlife, including lemurs and flamingos. Following an introduction to Necker Island’s Wildlife and Conservation Manager and some of its resident Lemurs of course, Yoga teacher, Katie, will get the kids moving, seeing who can move like a Lemur with Lemur Yoga. For all abilities.

What you will need:
A Yoga mat, plenty of space (flexibility optional)

A sensory soft drink tasting experience with Mont Rochelle

Mont Rochelle Hotel and Vineyard is set in the foodie capital of South Africa. Whilst famed for its wine tasting, that’s something we’ll keep just for the parents! Head Wine Maker Dustin Osbourne has created a special tasting just for kids using soft drinks and food colouring. This immersive, sensory experience will tickle their taste buds, while showing how much our eyes can influence what we think we taste.

What you will need:
Ingredients:

  • 40ml Guava juice
  • 40ml Lemonade
  • 40ml Appletiser (or sparkling grape or apple juice)
  • 40ml White grape juice
  • Blue, green, red and yellow food colouring (we'll only be using a few drops of each)

Utensils:

  • 4 glasses (can be glass or plastic!)
  • A pipette or dropper for the food colouring
  • A piece of card or paper

A virtual visit to a Maasai village with Mahali Mzuri

Mahali Mzuri will take kids on a virtual visit to the local Maasai Village where they will be able to watch a traditional Maasai dance, see how the villagers make fire and will be given a tour of the Maasai manyatta, house and beadworks by the Maasai women. To round off their visit to Kenya, kids will be invited to join in some fitness as they learn how to jump like a Maasai!
