Virgin Limited Edition: Earth Hour 2019

We’re already living with the effects of climate change, and we’ve seen extreme weather conditions that have impacted most regions, oceans, forests, lakes and wildlife.

Taking care of the environment is at the heart of Virgin Limited Edition and never has there been a more important time following some of the climate changes we have witnessed over the past decade. We’ve been impacted directly from climate change by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in the British Virgin Islands, droughts across South Africa and snowfall during springtime in Morocco.

To show our support we’re getting involved with Earth Hour for another year, and on Saturday 30th March 2019, these are just some of the sustainable activities happening across our properties:

Guests staying at Kasbah Tamadot can learn how to make the traditional Berber bread and Moroccan mint tea, followed by a local trek in the Atlas Mountains. In the evening guests will be invited for candlelit cocktails down by the pool as we count down for switching off the lights at 8:30pm. After this, a delicious Saffron Tasting menu will be served at dinner, using locally sourced produce, by candlelight with live music from a local Berber band.

Down in the Cape Winelands, Mont Rochelle will be switching off the lights in the spa, relax by candle light during any of the wonderful massages! There will also be delicious Earth Hour biscuits in the guestrooms and suites at turndown on Saturday evening – just a friendly reminder for our guests to get an early night and simply switch off!

Over in the British Virgin Islands, Necker Island will be switching off all the generators and making use of its new solar power system. Guests will also be treated to sustainable snacks and drinks during cocktail hour.
