Virgin Limited Edition has been working with the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) for the past three years in order to help establish us as one of the leading hotel groups in the world in terms of promoting a sustainable way of working. The results for 2016 are now in and it's fantastic news!
Across the collection for all the Virgin Limited Edition properties, we've had another great year. As a group, we achieved a total average of 74%, and maintained our 3 star group status which is the maximum star rating achievable. Both Mont Rochelle and Mahali Mzuri were new additions to the accreditation this year and both set themselves very positive first-year benchmarks. Virgin Limited Edition now sits above the global average on all 3 pillars that the SRA star ratings are ranked - Sourcing, Society, and Environment.
One of the highlights to mention is The Lodge was shortlisted in the International Food Made Good Champion 2016 category. This is a fantastic achievement for the team who have continued to set themselves incredibly high sustainability standards without compromising on the chalet's overall luxury. If you would like to see more about The Lodge's sustainable efforts (and their love of cheese) watch our great little YouTube video.
Many people don't think it's possible for a luxury property to be sustainable, but our consistently high standards prove our teams are living and breathing these sustainable values day in, day out. We know just how important it is to take care of the environment, and we are extremely sensitive to the impact our properties may have on the local communities within which we operate, so every decision we make we think about the impact we are causing. This includes working to protect the wildlife and habitat as well as community projects.
Many congratulations to all our brilliant teams and it's great to see Virgin Limited Edition leading the way when it comes to sustainability.
