The cycle ended on Saturday on a fantastic high note! For the first time in a year, the Shimungwe pride of lions were lying up right on the fence line on the boundary! So we had to tweak the course a little, a few 100 meters before their location, the cyclists were told to disembark from their bikes and we loaded onto vehicles to view the sighting which was an absolute highlight – thank you amazing universe!! Our team then parked the vehicles in a line to separate the sighting from the road and the cyclists were able to cycle past safely – in utter silence and focused on not falling! On the corner, just a couple of 100 meters from Dumphries gate, and our Ulusaba family welcomed the cyclists with traditional song and dance which was very moving!

Once the riders made it to Dumphries village, where the bikes were donated. Each person who received a donation read out their motivation letter as to why they deserved to be donated a bike. The 'donation ceremony' was a moving one as we were seeing lives changed before our eyes! One of them stands out in my mind: "I live with my grandmother who is very sick. I travel far to go to school and sometimes I get home late from school to find my Granny needed me to be home earlier. I also go to the clinic to fetch her medicine which is a far way to go. If I have a bike, I can get home quickly and I can also go to the shop and come back quickly to look after my gran. My uncle gives us money but he lives far away and he can't buy my a bike although he cares for us."

A fantastic journey for all of us who were involved! Hats off to the cyclists and thank you to all involved – it was blood, sweat and tears which ended in love and lives changed!
