As promised some pictures of the Kick-Start fundraiser held this weekend here in our surrounding villages - but I suppose I should start off with how this all came about!
Well, Ulusaba has two off road bike fanatics who like to go and ride out in the surrounding villages at least twice a week! And while on one of these rides, both got chatting about how they would love to be able to share this experience with some of their friends - who are also bike fanatics!
So a fundraiser was born. Johann, Trevor and myself worked on this for months, carefully planning the route and generally all the logistics behind holding an event we have never done before.
We targeted the event at R10,000 and 25 riders - we were spot on. 25 riders pitched up at Ulusaba with great anticipation - lots of last minute run arounds but the guys were off to a GREAT ride. The atmosphere was electric!
I think the pictures should do more of the talking!
But before I sign off, just wanted to say a very big thank you to the following people for making this happen:
Karl and Llane Langdon, GM's of Ulusaba; Willem Botha of Sabi Sands Game Reserve; Warren from Africa Safe-T; Danie Du Basson and Family; Hanekom Family; Indlovu Spar, Hazyview; SuperQuick, Hazyview; Sam for the photo's, Andries Mdaka for helping marshall on his day; Joseph for riding the tractor, also on his day off; the supporters who came through and of course all the riders themselfs.
And of course the boys themselfs - Johann and Trevor for raising R10,000 that is going towards the solar lighting at the new Eco-Creche. Well done guys, I am very proud and thankful of all your efforts and hard work that goes into supporting Pride 'n Purpose!
After the ride, there was a braai held at Ulusaba and raffle prizes handed out - the big one being a 2 night stay at Ulusaba - Well Done to Mark for winning this awesome prize, look fowarding to hosting you here at Ulusaba!
