September is Arbor month in South Africa - so why not keep with the greening theme and do a huge clean up sweep through Dumphries Village!
So that is what we did today with the school kids of Mahlahuvana Primary School.
We met at Dumphries gate - everybody recieved a plastic bag, a pair of gloves and a coke for that quick energy burst as the temperture today out here has reached a whopping 35 degrees celsuis.
And off we set for a 3km walk through Dumphries village! Well did the kids do us VERY proud - we managed to collect over 30 bags full of rubbish!!!
The kids and teachers who joined us, all recieved some chips, water, a soft drink and as a bonus thank you - a few bits and bobs of school supplies (rulers, pens, crayons, paper). A great day had while a lesson learnt on why we need to keep South Africa clean!
Well done all involved!
