Not a creature was stirring, not even Bambam........ Thats right its Christmas Eve, and we are all hoping that Santa can find his way through the snow and to The Lodge chimney to deliver his stash of presents to the guests, and more importantly the staff!! So what happens on an ideal Christmas day at The Lodge..........
We awaken to a blanket of fresh snow, and by the time the guests come down, a roaring log fire is keeping us all warm. The morning is spent in a mountain of wrapping paper, and gales of laughter, as presents are unwrapped and glasses of champagne are handed out. Breakfast is quite a casual affair, people pick at the buffet and fill themselves with pastries to fuel them up for a morning on the slopes. Around 11am the troops rally around the front door, vans are loaded with skis, and Santa hats dished out to the skiers, as they pile into the vans and head up the mountain.
As we scurry around to tidy up and set up for Lunch, we have a quick glass of bubbles, and swap our secret Santa presents in the kitchen, with lots of laughter and excitement. The guests normally ski for only a couple of hours, and come back for a late, light lunch, before spending the rest of the afternoon in the hot tubs, jumping out to roll in the snow, while the children bombard them with snowballs, and play with their new favourite toys.
The evening meal is the traditional mix of Turkey, stuffing and Gerwins favourites, all served up before the roaring log fire. Meanwhile carols are being sung around the table, and plenty of wine flowing to lubricate the vocal chords. The singing carries on into the wee small hours, until finally tired bodies carry themselves up to bed before another action packed day on the slopes.
Last time I spoke, I promised a team shot, but I am waiting for that to come back from the photographer, so you will have to wait until next time, think of it as a little gift to you from us!! The snow is continuing to fall, and there is more to come, stay tuned for more pics!
