Happy New Year! I can't believe as I am writing this we are already in to our third week of 2012! I hope you all had a great festive period - we certainly did here in Verbier! World-renowned for being one of the best places to see in the New Year, Verbier certainly didn't disappoint this year either! Fantastic fireworks all over the town, lots and lots of snow and the biggest snow-fall fight in Place Centrale that I have ever seen! And we celebrated in style at The Lodge, with a delicious five-course tasting menu, followed by champagne on the balconies of the Master Suites to watch the fireworks in the town at Midnight. There aren't many better ways to celebrate.
So with the start of a new year, we said "Au Revoir" to our lovely French guests and since then we have welcomed a Russian family, fun-filled Dutch group, and last week welcomed back our friends from Thailand for the third year. You can't say we aren't multi-cultural here at The Lodge! And with all the snow (over 3 metres in town, by the way!) we have had in the past few weeks, we are enjoying a great season!
There is amazing skiing (or boarding) both on the Verbier side and on the Savoleyres side of town, so you are thoroughly spoilt for choice of slopes! Plus, now that Christmas and New Year are over, there is a lot more space to move around. Obviously with all this heavy snow, the mountain becomes a more dangerous place so please take care when heading up there, but I can guarantee you will have an amazing time once you are on the piste!
We have a had a lovely week of blue skies and sunshine this week, which has been great for skiing, heli-skiing, paragliding or just chilling out in the hot-tub, and we have more snow forecast for the next few days, which we always welcome in a ski-resort! Our Ice-rink is nearly finished, all thanks to George - The Master of The Rink. It is looking fantastic and is just waiting for some action now! It was equipped with a very stylish snow-sofa, sculpted into the side, but then we had even more snow fall and it has disappeared again - a work in progress, I think! If this all sounds tempting then there is still availability to stay with us in April. Please contact our Reservations Team for more details on dates and rates! (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Anyway, there is more skiing to be done so I will say goodbye for now, but keep checking out the blog for new pictures of The Lodge and the snow.
PS. As promised, the first of our team photos for this season.
