Its a dogs life......

Hello wide world of Blog followers, summer has flown by, and already the evenings have a slight nip in the air, there was fresh snow on the peaks above 4,000 metres on Friday, and town has quietened down even more since we last spoke. So, that's means one thing......... winter's coming....... 59 days until first lifts.....

However, that's another few months away, so what have we been up to in the past few weeks? Plenty of people through the doors, and we are busy right up until we close for summer on the 21st of September. We have had a great few weeks filled with active guests and staff. All the girls in town did the triathlon, and all in under 2 hours, congratulations! Gerwin's marathon is at the end of October, so he is upping his training as we speak, and the wedding is getting even closer. The most popular activity in the past few weeks has been walking Bambam around the mountains, trying to wear him out. No one has actually managed to do that however, he even went on 2 big walks the other day, and still managed to be bounding around the garden chasing sticks when he came home!

So, who is Bambam? Where did he come from? Bambam is a chocolate flat coat retriever, and he comes from The Vanns, who breed them, in Devon. Hannah decided a dog would be a great addition to a Swiss mountain chalet, and fell in love with flatcoat retrievers, and the idea of Bambam was born. Paul came up with the name (from a well known cartoon that he likes!) and he was moved, in style, to the Swiss Alps. He didn't travel on any old plane though, Richard's jet was his preferred mode of transport, however he did get a bit too excited about his new life, and left a small gift on the carpet of the plane!! Needless to say he has not been invited back on the jet yet..... It's hard to tell whether he prefers summer or winter, summer because there are a lot more people about to take him walking, or winter because there is so much snow on the ground. His favourite winter game, when he is not playing with his friends, Jasper, Lola or Laika, is playing in the snow when we are clearing it, getting completely buried by it, then dusting himself off again and doing it all over again, before coming in and warming himself by the fire. Oh it's a tough life........

So as I sign off another summer blog, looking out of the window at yet another cloudless day, my mind begins to wonder from biking to skiing, from rock climbing to ski touring, and from cold beers to warm mugs of hot chocolate, there are still weeks left for this winter, so get in quick to reserve a once in a lifetime skiing holiday, and we will keep Bambam at the door ready for you.....

Until next time,

stay safe,

Gareth
