Summer has begun at The Lodge. The weather has been lovely and sunny and we are already in to our 6th full week of hotel operations!
This summer, we have already been hiking, biking, picnic-ing, trottinetting, paragliding and... skiing! Yes, it's true - the lift station from Mont Fort opened up for the first time in around 25 years this weekend after some petitioning and a lot of persuasion of Televerbier.
There is no stranger sight than seeing visitors in shorts and flip flops and downhill bikers, walking side by side with skiers on their way up for a summer Ski... and although I've been informed that the snow was not the best conditions ever, the chance to ski in glorious, warm sunshine in just shorts and a t-shirt was too good an opportunity to miss! And a Barbeque was set up at the Lift Station to look forward to afterwards!
Last weekend, we nervously watched Andy Murray win his first Wimbledon Championship Title. And to help with the nerves, we set up a Pimms and Strawberries station in our party room for anyone who needed it!
Lots of our guests have also been taking advantage of visiting the beautiful town of Montreux, either en route to the Lodge or on the way back to the Airport. The 47th Montreux Jazz Festival is currently underway attracting thousands of visitors and some big names too - Prince is performing this year! There is lots to see around the town and some fantastic little workshops and free open air gigs, as well as an impressive Castle on the age of the lake with stunning views out over towards France.
However the summer gets in to full swing in Verbier this week, when the 20th Annual Verbier Festival begins again on Friday 19th July 2013. Verbier will be buzzing with visitors and musicians and for the first time, the festival welcomes sixty talented young musicians aged 15 to 17 as part of the new Verbier Festival Music Camp, along with other well-known Classical music stars such as Bryn Terfel, Yuja Wang and Singer-Songwriter Rufus Wainwright.
