Hello hello wide world of Blog readers and followers.
Now, for the followers of the Necker blog you may notice a change in writer, and for those of you reading The Lodge blog hello again! That's right, about a month ago I said farewell to The Lodge and Hello to Necker! After an incredible 4 years at The Lodge it was time to come home to the sea again, slightly warmer than those off my native Guernsey, and to the tropics of the BVI. So, whats happening here on Necker, what can you expect, and whats news? Read on for tales of wild animals, amazing activities and tranquil beaches........
So the most obvious change for me has been the lack of mountains, as I sit here at an altitude of 25 metres, some 1475 metres lower than when I was at The Lodge, I can hear the crashing of waves on the nearby Turtle beach. A favourite spot for lunch and just getting away from it all, with its spread of sun loungers and uninterrupted views from the end of your lounger across to the horizon, it really is a magical place. There are 3 main beaches to use when on Island, and the first one you see as you pass the Island on your speedboat to the Island from the airport is Main Beach. Complete with the biggest pool I have ever seen, the biggest hot tub in the Caribbean, a fully stocked bar, day beds and sun loungers for chilling out in, it is a great start to your Private Island experience! This is right next to our fully equipped watersports beach, with everything you can think of for water based fun! From wind surfers to wake boards, scuba to kite surfing and Supping (that's stand up paddle boarding) we've got it covered. We have a whole fleet of Hobie cats, kayaks and boards for everybody, so there's no excuse not to give it a try. We've also got our Submarine, Necker Nymph, which is available for a daily hire and for a whole day of underwater flights.
On the other side of the Island near the Bali Hi complex, and right near our Flamingo pond is Bali Hi Beach. The setting for our legendary tribal night, where you don colourful animal prints, face paints and head dresses for an evening on the beach, with the option of a DJ or local steel band, we promise a beach party like no other!
Our collection of wildlife is growing every year, and the latest addition to the Necker family is a troop of 9 Madagascan Ring-Tailed Lemurs! These mixture of boys and girls have flown all the way from Madagascar to join us here, and are settling in very well! We have daily feedings and you can go visit the pen any time, just no finger poking! We are currently naming them all, but have definitely found our King Julian!
If that all sounds a bit too much like hard work, there is always a deserted hammock on a beach or in the main house for you to totally chill out in. We also have 3 wonderful Beauty Therapists, who can knead, pummel and soothe your aches and pains away in the Leha Leha Spa area; which is the Balinese phrase meaning peace, relaxation, day-dreaming and an empty mind, it seems a fitting way to describe our Spa. We can of course fix the perfect gin & tonic or rum punch to help you relax into the swing of Island life if you really don't want to move a muscle.
In October we open our doors celebration style where you can get your taste of Private Island Life without taking the whole Island, please see our tempting offers page for more info, or get in touch with your favourite Ressie for more info.
Tune in next time for more Island adventures, and a little overview of the key members of our incredible staff here who make it all happen........
