Necker Island update: Great expectations

The momentum on Necker Island has been literally building for months as the new Great House takes shape, and we're now able to share a few more details (and our excitement!) about this on-going project. The main frame of the Great House is already in place and the roof is soon to be completed. Meanwhile the furniture is on order and our team is working on some of the finer details.

At first glance previous vistors to Necker Island may think that not much has changed, as the shape of the Great House is very similar to the original, but appearances can be deceptive! The new building is considerably larger than the one it replaces, with more spacious guest bedrooms, a two-tier southern terrace, and the main indoor table will seat up to 40 people. The crow's nest on the roof will be expanded with space for intimate private dining and there will also be a small two-person Jacuzzi.

On the upper floor the Master Suite has been designed for panoramic views from virtually every angle and includes a two-person Jacuzzi as previously, a stand-alone outdoor bath and a kitchenette area with a fully-stocked fridge. The bedrooms on the main floor will have private balconies, indoor and outdoor showers, and we've added a new bunkroom just for the kids sleeping up to six.

In the main room we've added additional skylights so the whole space will feel much lighter, and the entire building is positioned to take advantage of the Caribbean cross-breezes, or if the midday heat gets too much, the new air-conditioning system will keep everyone cool.

The Great House was always the place where guests would come together during their stay, and we've ensured there's plenty of room for this with an expansive outdoor terrace with hammocks and sofas as well as space for everyone to gather round to enjoy their meal and possibly dance into the wee hours. There is also a fully-stocked bar where our team can make you your favourite cocktails, or you can just help yourself. For a bit of fun there's also a snooker table, piano, an entertainment system, and guest computers with internet access (plus the wireless internet has been upgraded for faster downloads). Every detail of the new Great House has been thought out to ensure our guests receive the same Necker experience they have come to expect.

Get in touch with our reservations team to be the very first guests to experience the new Necker Island. Rates start from $60,000 per night with nine rooms in the Great House and six Bali Houses sleeping 30 adults, and a further six children in the Great House bunk room.
