It s still not quite one year since we reopened following an extensive refurbishment, but we ve already harvested the first batch of grapes: around 97 tonnes from the 12.5 hectare vineyard, which equates to roughly 65,000 bottles.
All the fruit is hand-harvested, ensuring that it arrives at the winery in the best possible condition and allowing the winemaking team to hand select the best parcels suitable for wine production. The wines are then aged in the cellars until they reach optimum maturity for drinking (around three years for our reds) and then are made available first in our restaurants: Miko and The Country Kitchen.
Of course, we don t expect you to wait that long to try some of the wines from our estate. The results of harvests in years past are already available and wine tasting both in The Country Kitchen and in our cellar is a highlight of any visit to Mont Rochelle. Whether it s for a quick tasting or for a fuller explanation about how we make our wine, we ll make sure it s entertaining and your glass is always full.
