Pride 'n Purpose
Things to do
British Virgin Islands
From bush games, safari walks and cocktails by the pool, there's no shortage of things to do during the day.
The Aroma Boma is the perfect antidote to all the excitement of being out on the game drives. Book in for a relaxing treatment, from facial rituals to massage to essential grooming.
The Aroma Boma at Rock Lodge is located 800 feet above the African savannah with truly stunning views over the Bush and offers complete privacy.
At Safari Lodge, the Aroma Boma is built on the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed amongst the trees and away from the main lodge area, so the only likely disturbance is perhaps the odd elephant wandering past!
We use a range of products from ‘Africology’. ‘Africology’ prides itself on its African roots, taking inspiration from home and using local active ingredients including rooibos, aloe, marula and African potato. Spa treatments are available for an additional charge.
La Stone Full Body
Ulusaba Rock Lodge is uniquely placed on top of a koppie, or small mountain, made up of granite and quartz rock. This LaStone treatment is designed around the principle of geothermal therapy and uses warm basalt stones to relax, nurture and nourish tight and stressed muscles, allowing deep heat penetration. As a complement, cool marble stones are used to flush out toxins and melt any remaining muscular tension. This is highly effective in the treatment of stress, ensuring wholesome relaxation for the ultimate feeling of calm and tranquility.

Age Rescue massage with Aroma Steam and Shower
This complete body experience is an anti-ageing solution for the face and body that utilises Hyaluronic Acid for intense hydration as it retains moisture in the body. It is also enriched with the Padinami which is brown algae cultivated in the Mediterranean Sea. It reduces wrinkles, regenerates the skin and is infused with Frangipani. Anti-aging is not only about a topical application but is also influenced by your state of mind, so we use chakra oils and aromatherapy to highlight which energy centres in the body needs attention, ensuring this soulful treatment is a complete indulgence for the skin and a meditative journey for the mind.

Soul of Africa
This is a ceremonial process using Africology detox mud on the back followed by a massage using Africa’s Miracle oil ‘Marula’ to soften signs of ageing through its anti-stress action.
In Africa, Marula is seen as miracle oil and is used in many skin treatments and traditional ceremonies. This treatment starts with an application of warm, soothing mud to release negativity stored in the muscles followed by an intuitive body and scalp massage using the marula conditioning oil to soften signs of ageing through its anti-stress action.
Zambian Healing Ritual
Traditionally this massage was used as part of a healing technique to help restore balance and boost the immune system. Herbal infusions cleanse the body and the stimulating massage and stretches restore perfect balance by treating the body as a whole.
Intonga Amasatchi Stick Massage
A deep tissue and stress relieving treatment. Skilful movements are performed with the hands and different sized wooden sticks are used to stretch tight muscles and ease toxic overload from daily stress.
Symbolically, the stick or staff represents wisdom and direction to the healer. The stick is created from wood, symbolising growth and abundance. This is a grounding treatment that absorbs and purifies negativity, redirecting the energy flow into greater efficiency.
Bespoke Body Yoga Massage
This treatment is wonderful for runners and active individuals. This massage covers the whole body and targets stress and stiff areas. The stretching movements increase flexibility and releases tension allowing the body’s natural energy to flow more freely – ideal after a long flight!

Travel is always richer when you get the opportunity to find out about the daily lives of people who live in the area you’re visiting. If you’re in the mood for an authentic Shangaan experience, we organise community tours to the local villages.
The Community Tours and Excursions are organised by Pride ‘n Purpose, Ulusaba’s charitable arm. The basic philosophy behind its work is the principle of empowering people to help themselves while promoting sustainable development. All of Pride’n Purposes’s expenses are funded by Ulusaba and Virgin Unite, the group’s entrepreneurial foundation, so 100% of donations can be put into the much needed projects to improve living conditions for the local population. All money raised through those tours goes to the local communities.
Pride ‘n Purpose
You can now incorporate a volunteering experience into your stay. Our team will create bespoke itineraries to participate in hands-on projects within the local communities, based around your own skills and interests. Not only will this create an opportunity to experience the local culture it'll provide a way in which you can perhaps give a little something back to others.
Day in the Life
The Day in a Life village tour looks into some of the charitable projects and schemes Ulusaba is actively involved with. We tailor this tour’s itinerary according to your interests.
It’s Child’s Play
‘The It’s Child’s Play’ tour has more hands on activities. You will have the opportunity to share your skills and teach children anything from new songs to the school numbers and alphabet.
Justicia Village Tour
The Justicia Village tour has more of a cultural emphasis
Although game drives are the main attraction, there are plenty of other activities at Ulusaba to keep you entertained. Work out in the gym or even go for a spot of tennis on one of our two courts.
Take a safari walk with your Ranger and Tracker and you’ll get an opportunity to see smaller creatures that are often missed when you’re on the game vehicles.
If you fancy a hit of tennis, there are two tennis courts. We have balls and racquets you can borrow. The courts are floodlit so you can also play at night, but we will organise a security escort just to make sure the animals don’t gate crash your game!
Hit the gym and work up an appetite. It’s equipped with a running machine, bike, multifunctional weight station and free weights
If you want to spend some time soaking up the environment and wildlife, scoot away for the day for one of our scenic tours.
