Frequently Asked Questions

The atmosphere at Kasbah Tamadot is casual and informal; however you may choose to wear ‘smart-casual’ attire to dinner. Jacket and tie are never necessary, but feel free to dress up if you wish! Although Morocco is a Muslim country men and women are welcome to wear shorts, t-shirts and swimwear around the pool area.
If you wish to go walking, don’t forget to pack a good pair of trainers (sneakers), sunhat, sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen!

What is supplied at Kasbah Tamadot?

In your room we supply shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, bath foam, a hairdryer, direct dial phone, air-conditioning/ heating, mini-bar including some complimentary items, bottled water and bathrobes. We also have hair straighteners which are available on request. A guest computer provides internet access free of charge. There are a number of board games and an infinite supply of playing cards.
The gift shop has a small supply of local clothes and jewellery and the library has books for you to take out and enjoy. Please feel free to take a book home if you are half way through it, but please donate another one or leave unwanted books for future guests.
Kasbah Tamadot is a very tranquil hotel and although the rooms have CD players and radios with iPod leads they do not have televisions unless you’re staying in a Berber Tent. Televisions are available if you require one together with a DVD player. We have an extensive CD and DVD library for you to choose from, or alternatively bring your favourite CDs with you to enjoy

EU passport holders with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date do not require a visa to enter Morocco for tourist purposes. If you hold a passport from outside the European Union we strongly recommend that you check with your nearest Moroccan Embassy.

How about cash? What's the currency?

The local currency in Morocco is the Dirham. It is not possible to obtain Dirhams outside Morocco however there are cash machines at the airport and in central Marrakech. You can change Sterling, Dollars or Euros into Dirhams at Kasbah Tamadot, but it is illegal for a hotel to change Dirhams back into any other currency. We will accept Sterling, Dollars, Euros, Dirhams or credit cards to settle your bill. You can only change Dirhams back at the airport if you have a receipt from a registered Bureau de Change. Most restaurants and even some of the market stalls in the larger souks accept credit cards. Many places will also take Euros as payment however your change will most likely be in Dirhams. In smaller places or remote areas you will find it much easier to pay in Dirhams. If you are carrying currency to the value of 10,000 Dirhams or more on arrival into Morocco, we strongly recommend you declare this at Customs.

Can I spend Christmas and New Year at Kasbah Tamadot?

Absolutely! Spend Christmas or New Year in the peaceful Atlas Mountains – our all-inclusive offers provide a fantastic alternative to the usual routine. Minimum stay may apply – please ask us for more details.

What's in my room?
A well-stocked mini bar, bottled water, safety deposit box, radio/CD player, CDs, Bose iPod station, hairdryer, hair straighteners (on request), plug adapters, tea and coffee for guests in a Berber Tent, umbrellas, sunhats, Moroccan slippers (called Babouches) that you’re welcome to take with you when you leave, and big windows for those amazing views. Hypoallergenic pillows and duvets are available from Reception on request as well as mattress toppers for extra padding to ensure a perfect night’s sleep. If you fancy watching a bit of TV tucked up snugly in your robe with your Babouches and a glass of something bubbly, we’ll be happy to bring a TV/DVD player to you, or for those staying in a Berber Tent, one will be waiting in your room. The TVs come with a DVD player too so you can borrow one of the DVDs from our selection. If you want to chill out to your own tunes in your room, you can borrow one of our iPod Sound Docks. They are compatible with most iPods apart from the iPod Shuffle. We also have iPod leads in all guest rooms.

What food can I expect?
Our food is fantastic! The food served in Kanoun Restaurant reflects the local heritage, and our chefs will happily prepare a mixture of Moroccan and international dishes. Food is also served on the terrace at the pool bar or can be delivered straight to your room.

What about alcoholic drinks?

Although Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol by Muslims, alcoholic drinks can be legally served and sold throughout the country, though in some restaurants you may need to ask to see the drinks menu. Morocco even produces its own range of wines, some of which are available to try at Kasbah Tamadot, which serves a full selection of beer, wine, and spirits. We are also able to serve alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan.

Do you cater for special diets?
We understand that some people have special requirements and personal favourites too. Let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to make sure we have exactly what you need.

Can I go to Marrakech for the day, or for dinner?

Absolutely! The centre of Marrakech is only 1 hour away by car from Kasbah Tamadot. If you want to go down to the Medina for some shopping or fancy a night out on the town, we can organise your transfer arrangements at the hotel.

What about the evenings?
It’s really up to you. You can dine in Kanoun Restaurant, sit on the terrace and enjoy a drink under the stars, get comfy in the salon and watch TV or a DVD, or stay in and order room service. For those more intimate occasions we can arrange for you and your partner to have a private dinner. Depending on the weather we will screen movies outdoors in the amphitheatre (headphones supplied!). Check with our team when you book to confirm there will be showings during your stay.

Arrival and departure details
