We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to meet our resident flamingos at The Roof Gardens this week, five-year-old Daisy.
Little Daisy, from London, is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; a cancer of the blood caused by too many abnormal white blood cells. After being diagnosed in November 2015, she is thankfully now coming to the end of her treatment. Despite everything she has been through, she is an incredibly kind hearted child and loves helping those in need. She enjoys writing, drawing and reading books about nature – and her favourite animal is the flamingo!
Our friends at Starlight got in touch to tell us what a big fan of flamingos Daisy is, and that she had a special dream to one day meet them in real life. We knew that our four pink-feathered friends would be more than happy to help.
Dressed for the occasion in her flamingo skirt and with her favourite flamingo soft toy in hand, Daisy visited us on The Roof along with her parents on a sunny afternoon. Bill, Ben, Splosh and Pecks were delighted to meet our guest of honour and her cuddly little friend! The whole family were then treated to a tasty lunch in our award-winning restaurant, Babylon, to refuel after all the excitement.
Starlight grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, and next year will be helping Daisy and her family create magical memories by granting Daisy’s wish to visit Disneyworld in Florida.
It was a true pleasure to welcome the whole family to Babylon and The Roof Gardens and to introduce them to our resident flamingos, and we wish them a wonderful trip to Disneyworld.
