A couple of weeks ago we told you about one of our favourite nights of the year, our annual tree lighting with our charity Starlight! This year little Isla was the guest of honour and, alongside her sister Bella, had the important task of turning on Babylon’s Christmas tree lights.
This Christmas is extra special for Isla, Bella and their parents as they have been given the news that Isla is in remission after two years of fighting lymphoblastic leukaemia! With such wonderful news it was the perfect time for the family to get together and head off on a magical adventure and so The Roof Gardens and Babylon, alongside Starlight, were only too delighted to grant Isla’s wish to meet Father Christmas in Lapland.
We are thrilled to share some of the beautiful photos of their special adventure here. Their smiles say it all and, even though they’re now safely back home, reports from mum and dad say that they are all still feeling very much on cloud nine after a week of meeting husky dogs, reindeer, lots of elves and most importantly the man himself; Father Christmas!
On their return, mum Beth said, “The Lapland experience with Starlight gave us four days of unadulterated happiness, joy and shared celebration. After two and a half years of heartache and desperate moments, the trip has given us the most magical and wonderful moments that will live with us forever. Isla’s favourite moment was meeting the real Santa and stroking his beard.”
Throughout the year, the team at The Roof Gardens and Babylon have supported Starlight with a range of fundraising initiatives including: the Virgin London Marathon, Royal Parks Half Marathon and team parties, as well as proceeds from selected dishes and cocktails in Babylon being donated to the charity. We are delighted that these efforts helped to make Isla’s wish to meet Father Christmas come true.
